Advanced Project Management
Description
The Advanced Project Management module (ENGG10007) introduces the student to more in depth methods of controlling and managing projects including managing multiple projects with finite resources.
This includes reference to a range of more advanced project management tools and methodologies including spreadsheets, MS Project and in particular ‘Prince 2’.
It will develop the students understanding of the complex nature of managing multiple projects and develop their skills of communication to a group.
It will provide the opportunity to enhance their communication, presentation and team working skills including project leadership and management skills through role playing.
The concepts of scenario planning, risk management, post project audits and continuous improvement for the execution of projects will be explored.
Assessment will be by Case Study 50% and coursework 50%.
On successful completion of this module the student will be able to:
- Critically appraise a range of project management methodologies and project tools
- Compare various alternative scenarios/ strategies a project may be exposed to and make an appropriate recommendation
- Plan and control complex multiple projects using advanced project management tools
- Assess the applicability of identified project management procedures and discuss suitable alternatives
This is an SCQF Level 10 module and upon successful completion, participants will be awarded 20 credits.
