21st Century Theatre and Performance

The 21st Century Theatre and Performance module (PERF08005) provides further context to the theoretical and practical exploration of movements, practitioners, and plays explored in earlier modules, extending the exploration of major 20th century theatre movements to assess their influence on contemporary practice.  The module explores theatre and performance in relation to its wider social, cultural, political, historical, and cultural contexts.  It also examines the role of the 21st century spectator and performance maker, considering how this has been developed over time.

On successful completion of this module the student will be able to:

• Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of how 21st century theatre and performance has been influenced by previous practice 
• Critically appraise a piece of 21st century performance in its social, cultural, historical, and cultural contexts
• Critically reflect on the role of the spectator and performance maker in the 21st century

This is an SCQF Level 8 module and upon successful completion, participants will be awarded 20 credits.

 

CPD for teachers of Music and English aiming to dual-qualify in Drama

This module is part of a suite of four modules designed to enhance knowledge and understanding of Drama, Theatre and Performance, equipping learners with the skills to teach Drama in secondary school contexts. These modules are well suited to teachers of Music and English who are looking to dual-qualify in Drama.

Upon completion successful completion of these modules, you will be able to access an academic transcript highlighting credits gained. You will need to submit evidence of your study when applying for Additional Professional Registration.
