Leadership for Effectiveness

Description
Effective leadership is a crucial to the success of all organisations. The need for effective leadership across broad professional groups is widely acknowledged both nationally and internationally and in order to achieve quality goals of efficient interdisciplinary/interagency partnership working and promote effective innovations, full cognizance requires to be taken of the culture and team dynamics within these complex organisations such as healthcare.
Delegates undertaking this module will be encouraged to critically explore the current challenges facing health and social care professionals delivering integrated care within a dynamic and evolving health and social care context. In conjunction, delegates will be encouraged to critically appraise their personal leadership role, the influence of team dynamics and the contribution that the various professional groups make towards the delivery of efficient and effective health and social care practice. Delegates are encouraged to be research minded and culturally aware of the impact of effective leadership in the workplace setting.
This is a Masters Level (SCQF 11) module and upon successful completion, delegates will be awarded 20 credits.
Course delivery and assessment
This module will be delivered online through a combination of self-paced study and live online sessions with University of the West of Scotland (UWS) teaching staff. Course materials will be accessible via our virtual learning environment and the course content will also be accessible online for a short time after the module has been delivered, allowing delegates to revisit aspects of teaching. A detailed timetable for the module will be available prior to course commencement.
Delegates are required to complete assessments at the end of the module to demonstrate their knowledge. Further information about the assessment methods and deadlines will be given to students soon after teaching begins.
Prerequisites
Delegates will hold a Bachelor’s Degree. Delegates must also illustrate relevant practical experience and this should be highlighted in the application.
Further study
The credit from this module can be used towards our MSc Nursing degree.
