Everything you need to know about booking a course with us.

Terms & Conditions for courses booked with UWS:

THE UNIVERSITY COURT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST OF SCOTLAND, a charitable body registered in Scotland under the registration number SC002520 and having its main offices at High Street, Paisley, PA1 2BE (the University) will supply the goods or services listed on the University’s online store website (the Site) on the following terms and conditions.

The University of the West of Scotland (referred to in these terms and conditions as the “University”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is the owner of the online store Site. “You” or “your” means the individual or organisation making the purchase through the Site.

By ordering any of the goods or services on the Site, UWS considers that you have accepted and agreed to these terms and conditions.

1. Payments

It is your responsibility to enter the correct details and we accept no liability as a result of incorrect details being provided. The University does not accept any liability if a payment is refused or declined by the card issuer for any reason. It is not the responsibility of the University to bring this to your attention.

2. Personal Data

Data that you provide during this transaction will only be used for the purpose of recording your payment and arranging your course booking (including communication prior to, during, or after delivery of the course). The University will act in line with the principles of the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Date Protection Regulations. Please read the Privacy Policy for details of how the University will use information about you.

3. Use of our website

We make all reasonable efforts to make sure that the content of the site is accurate and up-to-date. However, we do not accept responsibility for mistakes or omissions in the site.

All content is provided ‘as is’ and we make no warranties, representations or undertakings about any of the content on the site, for example in relation to quality, accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose of such content.

Every effort is made by us to keep the Site available and running smoothly. However, we take no responsibility for and will not be liable for the site being temporarily unavailable due to technical issues.

Every effort is made by us to ensure the Site and any downloadable content is free from viruses but we cannot guarantee this. You are responsible for configuring your computer or other information technology equipment in order to access the Site. You should use your own virus protection software because we do not accept liability for damages resulting from virus infection.

4. Cancellations & Refunds

If you need to make a cancellation please email cpd@uws.ac.uk stating your course booking and name.

Notice periods are as follows:

•Up to 28 days before the start of the course: delegates are able to cancel courses, and either defer to an alternative start date or receive a full refund

•Between 27 and 14 days prior to the start of the course: delegates may defer start date or transfer their place to another individual (providing all individuals satisfy any entry criteria)

•13 to 1 day prior to the start of the course: delegates may transfer their place to another individual (providing all individuals satisfy any entry criteria); no cancellation is possible

Some courses may require minimum numbers to run. In the unlikely event that a programme does not run, UWS CPD Centre will inform any delegates booked on the course a minimum of 14 days prior to the start date. Delegates will be offered an alternative start date (where available) or a full refund; please note that UWS will not cover costs of accommodation or travel booked to facilitate travel to the course.

Refunds will only be made to the debit/credit card used for the original transaction or by credit note.

5. Financial Liability

These terms and conditions constitute the entire financial liability of the University (including any liability for acts or omissions of its employees, agents and sub-contractors) to You in respect of: (i) Any breach of these terms and conditions; (ii) Any representation, statement or negligent act or omission, including negligence arising under or in connection with the contract.

The University’s total liability in contract, delict (including negligence or breach of statutory duty), misrepresentation or otherwise due to carrying out of the contract will be restricted to the price of the goods; and

The University will not be liable to You for any loss of profit, loss of business or depletion of goodwill nor for any indirect or consequential liability, loss or damage, which arises out of or in connection with the contract.

6. Termination

The University may terminate the contract with immediate written notice if You fail to pay the price of the goods or services in accordance with these terms and conditions.

7. Variation

The University has the right to revise and amend these terms from time to time without notice. Every time You wish to order goods or services, please check these terms to ensure You understand the terms which will apply at that time. Whenever we revise these terms, we will state that these terms have been amended and insert the relevant date of the amended version at the top of this page.

8. Assignation

The University may at any time assign the contract or any of the University's rights or obligations under it.

9. Waiver

The failure of either party to exercise or enforce any right on that party by the contract shall not be deemed to be a waiver of any such right or operate to prevent the exercise or enforcement thereof at any time afterwards.

10. Force Majeure

The University reserves the right to defer the date of delivery/collection or to cancel the contract in the case of any strike, lockout, disorder, fire, explosion, accident or stoppage affecting the University's business or work which is beyond its reasonable control and which prevents or hinders the delivery of the goods.

11. Card Security

Your payment details are automatically encrypted when your payment is confirmed. This Site is secured using a SSL Web Server Certificate to offer You secure communications by encrypting all card data to and from the Site.
