Taster Session: Internet of Things

In this taster session, we will demonstrate how to control and monitor the facility condition remotely and record and display the measurements such as temperature, humidity and motion.

Description

In this taster session, we will demonstrate how to control and monitor the facility condition remotely and record and display the measurements such as temperature, humidity and motion.

This taster session will expose the participants to state of the art IoT tools such as Node-Red to interface the sensors and cloud over the dedicated IoT protocols.

We are happy to offer bespoke CPD sessions to introduce IoT concepts, applications and implementation of IoT systems.  As part of training, attendees will get an access to the University’s state-of-the-art Internet of Things (IoT) Innovation laboratory, which is based at Paisley Campus.  The lab is home to a campus-wide outdoor and indoor testbed with capabilities to monitor air quality, remote condition monitoring for fault detection, health and vital sign monitoring, activity and behaviour monitoring with the state-of-the-art processors, sensors and wireless interfaces.

Aim and Objectives of CPD:

  • Demonstrate a systematic and comprehensive understanding of the architecture and working mechanism of an IoT system
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of key technologies in sensing, data transmission and data processing for IoT
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of the challenges in designing and securing an IoT system
  • Demonstrate the capability of following the standards in designing and implementing an IoT system
  • Develop extensive hands-on skills in developing an IoT system

We expect the session will last around 45 minutes.

This session is free to attend but advanced registration is required.  A link to join the session will be sent to the email that you have registered with.
