Evidencing Learning & Development Needs

Description

The Evidencing Learning & Development Needs module (EDUC11148) has been designed to support individuals working within a range of workplace settings (e.g. education, health, and other allied fields) who are involved in the management, implementation and coordination of learning interventions/programmes.

Specifically, the module aims to provide participants with experience of conducting a formal training needs analysis (TNA) which is directly related to organisational learning and development policy within their professional context.  In doing so, the module offers participants the opportunity to enhance skills and knowledge in related areas; data collection, analysis, and exercising judgement by making evidence informed recommendations surrounding the type of training and development interventions that can contribute to bridging employees’ knowledge and skills gaps.

At the end of this module the student will be able to:

  • Critically evaluate an organisation’s strategic approach to learning and development; identifying contextual variables and their impact on learning and development policy
  • Demonstrate enhanced practitioner skills and techniques in planning and conducting a training needs analysis using an evidence informed approach, including critical evaluation and presentation of findings
  • Develop evidence informed recommendations associated with potential learning and development interventions to bridge identified organisational learning/development gaps

This is an SCQF Level 11 module and upon successful completion, participants will be awarded 20 credits.
