Description
Our 4-day CIMSPA-endorsed Personal Trainer CPD course is designed to develop skills in exercise programming, nutrition and support clients in improving their health. Participants will become a CIMSPA accredited Personal Trainer. developing a knowledge of anatomy, physiology, behavioural coaching and nutrition in health and fitness. They will also develop skills in the principles of exercise programming and nutrition to support exercise. By the end participants will be equipped with the skills to engage, educate, and train adult clients to achieve their health and fitness goals.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and nutrition with an application to training.
- Discuss how clients with different needs can be supported to achieve their health and fitness goals.
- Demonstrate competence of working with clients in a training environment.
Pre-requisites
CIMSPA certified Gym Instructor. If you don’t already have this, you can complete it alongside this qualification.
You will also need to have some experience in a gym environment, particularly with regards to using resistance machines, free weights, and CV machines.
Delivery
This course is delivered using a range of learning and teaching methods to aid in the acquisition of knowledge and understanding of the methods and principles. Support materials will be available on our virtual learning environment.

The course will be delivered over 4 days with daily synchronous sessions held on-campus at Lanarkshire comprising practical elements and tutorials.

Assessment
The assessment for this course will consist of two components: a class test and a portfolio of practical work. The portfolio of practical work will be split into two parts:
- Part A - MCQ for anatomy and physiology
- Part B - A portfolio of written work with practical delivery

Currently enrolled UWS students are eligible for a discount. When applying, students should provide a note of their Banner ID. Students will be provided with a promotional code to use when completing registration, to reduce the payable course fee from £500 to £300.
