Applying Psychology

Description

This module gives students an introduction to classic and contemporary methods, practices and applications of psychological theory through focusing on two themes within psychology: Impact and Ethics.  Students will work in small groups to explore these themes, and using an inquiry-based learning pedagogy, will decide themselves what is important to focus on.  This will be facilitated through engagement with multiple sources of knowledge on the themes, such as books, journals, web, film, documentaries, podcasts, Vlogs and Blogs, videos, TED talks, tweets, etc.  Tutors are on hand to support student learning, but the onus is on students to work together to achieve the tasks set.  Note that there are no lectures for this module; the focus is on authentic classroom group work experiences.

This is an SCQF Level 7 module and upon successful completion, participants will be awarded 20 credits.
