Description

The aim of the Introduction to University Mathematics module is to provide a bridge between pre-University and University level Maths and prepare learners for further University study in a range of subject disciplines including Maths, Science and Engineering.

The SCQF Level 6 module is of direct benefit to students who have not already achieved Level 6 Maths or who have previously undertaken study at this level but have been away from education for some time.

It is also of indirect benefit to employers who are already facing significant skill shortages and who are looking to upskill existing employees to degree level to help meet business needs.

The module is split into six topics which will help prepare students for Level 7 study:

  • Numbers

  • Algebra

  • Functions

  • Geometry

  • Trigonometry

  • Calculus

The module is delivered online enabling students to access their learning at a time, place and pace that fits with their other work/life commitments and combines asynchronous (recorded) lecture content, synchronous (real-time) tutorials and independent study.
