Ecology for ECoWs

Description

This session will address the basics fundamentals of ecology that form key background knowledge for an Environmental Clerk of Works.

We will cover:

  • The legal framework supporting ecology and wildlife law in Scotland (and variations across the UK)
  • Ecology and development
  • Roles and responsibilities of contractors, agents and national/local agencies
  • Provision of information by stakeholders
  • Typical constraints, legislative requirements and industry standard mitigation
  • Case studies

Overview

Sessions will be led by industry and academic experts; delegates will be required to participate through a combination of interactive activities, discussion forums, break out groups and case study development.  The main sessions will be hosted on Zoom so a reliable internet connection, web camera and microphone will be required.  Sessions will be recorded and then posted in a secure site for delegates to access and review at a later date.

This programme forms part of the Environmental Clerk of Works Foundation Programme.  For further information about this course, please visit here or contact cpd@uws.ac.uk
