Foundations of Water Management (three sessions)

Description

  • Foundations of Water Management: 1. Overview of Legislative Framework
  • Foundations of Water Management: 2. Good Practice and Spill Response
  • Foundations of Water Management: 3. Planning and Pollution Incidents

These three sessions will address the complex issues involved in water management and pollution control, and the role of the Environmental Clerk of Works in relation to this topic. 

We will cover:

  • Overview of the legislative framework 
    • Scottish Environment Protection Agency and their guides
    • Consenting process, and the information detailed within the various simple or complex licences
    • Offences
    • Enforcement options available to SEPA
    • Good practice
      • Review of documentation available
      • Spill response good practice
      • Case study – planning with complex elements
      • Case study – pollution incidents

Overview

Sessions will be led by industry and academic experts; delegates will be required to participate through a combination of interactive activities, discussion forums, break out groups and case study development.  The main sessions will be hosted on Zoom so a reliable internet connection, web camera and microphone will be required.  Sessions will be recorded and then posted in a secure site for delegates to access and review at a later date.
