Understanding Construction Industry Contracts and Processes

Description

This three hour session will provide an introduction to construction contracts, and their relevance from the perspective of someone working in Environmental compliance. 

We will cover:

  • Methods for managing risk in construction through contracts
  • Types of contact (design and build, build only, lump sum fixed price)
  • Construction management processes:  
    • The importance of the programme
    • Statutory processes within and outside contracts
    • Points of contact
    • Understanding competing pressures
    • Construction design management regulations
    • Case study

Overview

Sessions will be led by industry and academic experts; delegates will be required to participate through a combination of interactive activities, discussion forums, break out groups and case study development.  The main sessions will be hosted on Zoom so a reliable internet connection, web camera and microphone will be required.  Sessions will be recorded and then posted in a secure site for delegates to access and review at a later date.
